Frequently asked questions about the telematics infrastructure

Who should attend to TI?

Every practice that have a KV license must attend TI. The E-Health law regulates the reimbursement of the costs of physicians to buy and employ them (see also TI financing).

Private practices are excluded from TI and don't need to be affiliated.

How does the connection with TI look like?

In any case, you need an internet connection. You also need following:

  • a certified TI connector
  • At least one stationary card terminal (exact amount depends, which among other things, on size and type of application)
  • Application ID (eg Medisign)
  • VPN access service
  • Software update of your practice management system

Devices, installation and application software must be approved by gematik and the Federal Office of Information Security ("BSI" in short). You can also find a detailed list of ingredients here.

EVA and EVA-RIS that is our application management software, our technicians and the TI components that we use were approved for TI.

What is a "safe supply chain"?

Ordered TI components can only be delivered personally to the doctor on site. Transport will be done by a private security service. Transport service employees are specially trained, certified, and vehicles are specially secured. In this way, "secure supply chain" is provided.

Subsequently, the delivered devices should be kept unopened and stored securely until installed. These precaution are determined by the Federal Security Office in information technology ("BSI" in short). This, for example, prevents the devices from being manipulated.

When can Abasoft connect applications to TI?

According to the current situation, an installation date can take place at the beginning of September at the earliest. You can pre-order for TI components (click here for order form). Orders will be accepted by us after we receive your correctly filled and signed order form.

We offer our customers a complete package. This consists of a connector, card terminals, VPN access service, and VSDM module for your practice management system. Practice card (SMC-B) will be an exception for the full package. Each institution must apply for this internship certificate from an approved institution. However, you can order your practice card from our partner medisign >>> here <<<. Please note that you need a practice card for each organization number.

What happens during setup?

The installation will be done during your normal practice. Setup time depends on the size and infrastructure of the practice. Therefore, a precise time interval cannot be given in general. You will then receive a briefing related to your new system. For a successful connection with TI, your application ID must exist at the time of installation. You need an SMC-B for each business organization. Please note delivery times of up to four weeks for the SMC-B card.

What should I consider before installation?

You must have ordered your practice card before the installation date. This must already exist at the time of installation otherwise we will not be able to connect your application to TI. You need an SMC-B for each business organization. Please also note delivery times of up to four weeks for the SMC-B card.

 

We also recommend that our applications book the TI setup check. This is done in advance by our technicians via remote maintenance. In this control, the compliance of your IT system and application infrastructure to the TI framework conditions is checked. There are a few things to consider for a successful connection, such as adequate firewall / virus protection, Internet speed, connector location and much more..

There are no obstacle to our TI check-up and the next installation.

A perfect installation cannot be guaranteed without our TI control! Under certain circumstances, the setup fee will be got again another on-site for appointment.

What will happen to my old devices?

You cannot connect your old card terminals to the connector. However, the so-called, the old devices were intended to be used for "replacement procedure". You can then use it as a backup, such as a mobile card terminal.

Can I use another brand's connector?

We strongly recommend this to our customers! Each connector has its own unique interfaces and settings that cannot be easily adapted to our application management system. We work with our partner "DGN" and install the connectors from ARVATO. When installing a third-party device, you will pay additional costs such as a corresponding license and monthly maintenance. Also, we cannot provide any support for the connector.

Do I need internet for TI in practice?

You need an internet connection and a suitable internet router at your practice. Internet router, Fritz! It shouldn't be a normal home internet router like Box. You definitely need a security router to work. The itself of connector cannot establish an internet connection. You need a suitable internet router for updates, remote maintenance, etc.

If you are already connected to the Internet in your practice, an Internet router will be sufficient. You don't need any additional internet connection or additional devices.

Can I wait to connect to the Internet until the connector is installed?

We recommend that our customers connect the practice to the internet as quickly as possible. From 1 April 2018, all practices (excluding psychological psychotherapists) are obliged to update the drug database every four weeks. We offer these updates to our customers as free on the internet.

We have an alternative method for apps that are not connected to the internet yet, but this is very costly and time consuming. Therefore, early enough, we recommend that you connect your practice to the internet. Sooner or later you have to get online because of the connector.

What should i am careful when i am online in my practice?

In any case, you need comprehensive virus protection and a firewall. You also need an up-to-date operating system. Inform your colleagues and employees about how to use the Internet.

Viruses not only reach the human body every day, computers are also attack surfaces called "computer viruses". While the human body reacts to viruses with its own immune system, its own computer is often unprotected. Computer systems are now more at risk than ever before!

The old computer systems like Windows XP, inadequate virus protection, inadequate backup strategies, and inadequate user training open the door to dangerous viruses and ransomware on your data. Ransomware is hidden in email attachments, links, and exploit kits (hidden in infected websites and advertisements).

What is ransomware?

Ransomware encrypts your data so you can only open the data with a virtual "key". A lot of money is paid to companies to get the key. As soon as dangerous malware infected to a PC, it can even infect other computers.

Basically, your patient data is protected by the Linux server. Simple and / or integrated virus protection is no longer sufficient to protect sensitive company data (eg letters) from hacker attacks. Protect your company data with a professional firewall and virus protection. Additionally, inform your users how to handle emails. Do not open emails from unknown / suspicious senders and / or invisible attachments. Delete such emails immediately. You should critically interrogate emails and any links that you sent.

What happens to KV-SafeNet?

Until all KV-SafeNet services are provided via the connector, access to KV-Safe-Net is still via the SafeNet module. All KV SafeNet services (eg DMP data acceptance) must gradually be approved by gematik.

When all KV SafeNet services are later approved, data transfer will only work through the connector. KV SafeNet connection is no longer required. The contract then automatically terminates for you and does not require a separate termination by you.

How does funding for first equipment work?

Until now, funding for the first equipment is scheduled until 31 December 2018. You can read more information about this topic on the KBV homepage.

What if the required components are ordered in June ,and the installation and first VSDM don't occur until October?

You will then receive the fund from the 4th quarter. You will have additional costs for which you will not be compensated later. Therefore, the first active is VSDM, not the current order or delivery date.

 

Communities of practice have a small advantage here:
These only require a complete set of equipment, but at least two will be refunded depending on the size of the community implementation.

For other applications, how the funding for the first equipment will look like is still controversial. Funding is always mentioned. However, no public position has been taken so far. Here we will see how the political situation will develop.

  • 1 additional BSNR, as the example assumes that have shared practice that have two doctors
  • 1x TI service pack (pre-checked)
  • You need at least one stationary card terminal for each BSNR (please specify quantity). If assume that there are two doctors, you need at least two stationary card terminals here.
  • Every doctor who visits home needs a mobile card terminal at least once (please specify the amount).
  • 1x installation package (already checked)

How does the layout look like for a supra-local occupational unity?

Suppose you are a supra-local occupational community that consist of two locations and two doctors. Please fill the TI equipment order form for each location separately and indicate the following:

  • Name, address, telephone and fax
  • E-Mail Address
  • BSNR
  • Exercise form
  • 1x TI connector (already checked)
  • Since the example assumes a joint practice with two doctors and two BSNRs, the main organization requires an additional BSNR once. The affiliate does not need to submit any additional BSNR applications on the second form.
  • 1x TI service pack (pre-checked)
  • You need at least one fixed card terminal for each location (independent of BSNR) (please specify quantity).
  • Every doctor who visits home needs a mobile card terminal at least once (please specify the amount).
